Good jacket, slow shipping

I ordered the MA-1 Bomber Jacket in sage green, size large. The ordering process was straightforward on their website, no real hitches there. The jacket itself feels very well-made, sturdy zippers and the nylon has a nice weight to it. I've worn it a few times and it's comfortable and surprisingly warm for its weight. The fit was as expected from their sizing chart, not too slim, not too baggy. My only real complaint was the shipping. It took about 10 days to arrive after I placed the order, which felt a bit long, especially since I'm only a few states away. I didn't need customer support for anything, so can't comment on that. Overall, happy with the product, just be prepared to wait a bit for delivery.

Solid N-3B Parka

I bought the N-3B Parka for winter. It's definitely warm, kept me cozy in pretty cold weather here in Michigan. The hood is great, really deep and the faux fur trim helps block wind. My main positive is the warmth and the robust feel of the material. However, I found the zipper a bit stiff at first, it took some effort to get it moving smoothly, which was a minor annoyance. Customer service was fine when I had a question about tracking, they responded within a day. For the price, it's a good value, just wish the main zipper was a bit smoother right out of the box.

I saw a 15% off popup for signing up for emails. Can I use that with the military discount?

M Mark Y. 1 month ago
Nah, pretty sure it's one code per order. You'll have to pick which one gives you the better deal.

From what I remember, you can only use one promo code at checkout. They don't let you stack 'em, so choose wisely.

How long does shipping usually take to California? Trying to get a jacket before a trip.

D David 2 months ago
For standard shipping to the west coast, I usually get my stuff within 5-7 business days. Might be quicker if you pay for expedited.

I'm in SoCal, usually takes about a week for regular shipping. If you need it fast, I'd suggest upgrading the shipping speed.

Is there a Black Friday sale every year? Trying to decide if I should wait to buy a jacket.

T Tom Bennett 2 months ago
They always have a Black Friday sale, usually starts a little before Thanksgiving. It's one of their bigger sales.

Definitely wait. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are usually their best deals all year. Saw some stuff up to 50% off last year.

Does anyone know if Alpha Industries ships to APO addresses? Want to send a jacket to my brother overseas.

N Neil Torres 1 month ago
I'm pretty sure they do, I remember seeing an option for it when I ordered last year for a friend. It might take a bit longer though.

Yep, they ship to APO/FPO. Just select it during checkout. Shipping time is usually the only difference.

Are their jackets actually 'military spec' or is that just marketing? Like, is the quality comparable to what actual pilots wear?

M Mike R. 1 month ago
They were an actual contractor way back, so the designs are authentic. The current jackets are more fashion-focused but the build quality is still really good, especially for the heritage stuff.

The original MA-1s etc. were made for the military by them. Modern ones are obviously not issued, but they're still built tough and based on those original specs. You're getting good quality.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how the MA-1 bombers fit? I'm usually a large but sometimes jackets run small/big.

B Beth 2 months ago
They're pretty true to size for the regular fit, but the slim fit ones are definitely snug. I'd go with your usual large unless you want it super tight.

Yeah, I got a heritage MA-1 and it felt a little roomier than I expected, good for layering. For the slim, def size up if you're between sizes.

Thinking about getting an N-3B Parka but worried it won't be warm enough for a proper Midwest winter. Anyone have experience?

F Faith M. 1 month ago
Dude, the N-3B is super warm. It's designed for arctic conditions basically. You'll be good for a Midwest winter no problem, even with just a t-shirt underneath.

I wear mine in Chicago winters and it's fantastic. You won't freeze, it's seriously insulated.

What's the deal with returns if a jacket doesn't fit? Is it free to send back or do I pay shipping?

T Troy 1 month ago
I returned a jacket last month and it was pretty straightforward. They give you a return label, so it didn't cost me anything.

J James L. 1 month ago
Yeah, if you're in the US, returns are free. You just gotta follow the instructions on their site to get a label.
